Mercer County Revolutionary War Memorial

The Mercer County Revolutionary War Memorial, located beside Pioneer Cemetery at Old Fort Harrod State Park, honors the men who fought in the American Revolution and later lived or were laid to rest in Mercer County, Kentucky. Dedicated in 1938 by the Jane McAfee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the bronze plaque preserves the names of frontier soldiers, militia captains, local patriots, and early community leaders whose courage helped secure American independence.

Although many of these men are not buried directly at the Pioneer Cemetery, their names are inscribed here to recognize their sacrifice, frontier service, and foundational role in the early settlement of Kentucky’s first permanent community. Today, the memorial stands as a powerful reminder of the Revolutionary spirit that helped shape Mercer County and the nation.
